The California Legislative Jewish Caucus Stands with Pittsburgh

Monday, October 29, 2018

The California Legislative Jewish Caucus stands united with the Tree of Life synagogue and with all communities imperiled by the cancer of anti-Semitism and hate. We will mourn for the victims and pray for their families and the congregation. What we will not do, however, is give in to fear.

Places of worship should be safe and filled with faith, family, and peace.

The Jewish Caucus has consistently ensured the California State Budget includes funding for the Office of Emergency Services to protect non-profits, synagogues and mosques with increased security risk. The budget also includes funds for anti-hate training on college campuses to combat anti-Semitism and other biases. We hope these programs prevent violence and promote understanding in our communities.

The statistics are clear. Anti-Semitism is on the rise around the world and here in the United States. An attack on one of our Jewish communities is an attack on Jews everywhere. It is an attack on all peaceful and civilized societies. We cannot stand by and allow hate and violence to overcome love and acceptance.
