Jewish Caucus Issues Statement Regarding Violent Antisemitic Attacks in Los Angeles

Press Release

SACRAMENTO, CA - The California Legislative Jewish Caucus, led by co-Chairs Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel (D-Encino) released the following statement regarding the attacks outside Adas Torah synagogue in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles:

“We are horrified by the violence directed at the Jewish community yesterday in Los Angeles. Targeting a synagogue or any other house of worship is reprehensible and those who are responsible must be held fully accountable. Our Caucus has been in communication with Governor Newsom, Mayor Bass, and local officials, and we appreciate their strong commitment to ensuring that our community remains safe and protected.”

“We are also grateful that our state budget agreement includes a record $160 million for nonprofit security grants. This funding is vital to protecting the Jewish community and others targeted by hate. We remain committed to doing everything in our power to protect the Jewish community and to ensuring that Californians of all faiths and backgrounds can live without fear of violence and harassment.”
